- What is the function of the Ladybug silicone breast pump ?
The Haakaa Ladybug is designed to help you catch any breast milk leakage and flow during the day while you're on the go. It hangs over your breast and clips into your bra, using gentle suction to increase the amount of leaking breast milk it collects. Instead of letting liquid gold go to waste in your nursing pads, our little Ladybug makes sure to save every drop!
- How is the Ladybug breast pump different from the Haakaa breast pump?
Lady Bug's Milk Collector is simply what it calls itself - Milk Collector. It collects your leaks as your day goes on - unlike our silicone pumps, which generate a continuous suction that draws in your milk.
The Haakaa breast pump is designed to help you express milk, while the LadyBug is simply a tool to collect the milk you naturally produce during the day. The suction produced by Ladybug is not strong enough to help you express milk on its own.
- How long can I wear Ladybug for?
According to New Zealand breastfeeding guidelines and other international organisations, breast milk can only be kept safely at room temperature for a maximum of four hours. We recommend wearing the milk collector for no more than 4 hours at a time, to ensure that the milk you collect does not become unsafe.
If you need to wear your Ladybug for longer periods of time, you can simply empty the milk into a safe storage container after 2-3 hours of wearing and store it away in the fridge or freezer. Then wash the bundle with warm water and soap, dry it well and wear it again. Repeat periodically as needed.
- Can Ladybug be seen under the clothes?
Ladybug is invisible under clothes. This is because they feature a one-piece design made from super soft and flexible silicone that is food grade silicone, allowing you to fit them into your bra without any awkward lumps or bulges!
- How do I wear the Ladybug Milk Gatherer?
To attach the Ladybug, gently press back, center the opening over the middle of the nipple, secure it to your breast, then release your grip.
- Why am I not getting enough milk?
Because the Ladybug is only meant to be used as a pacifier, not as a breast pumping device, you may find that you don't get as much milk as you had hoped. This does not mean that the Ladybug you got is defective or not working. This simply means that you may not leak as much breast milk during the day - and that's completely okay! Every body is different.
- Can I empty the milk collection into the same bottle during the day?
You can store the milk you collect during the day in the same bottle – just make sure you cool the new milk before adding it to the milk you've already stored before. For more information, please see the guidance issued by your country's health organization about storing breast milk in the same container.
- Can I sleep with my milk gait on overnight?
You can sleep with Lady Bug to prevent leaks and stains on your clothes and sheets. Please be aware that any breast milk collected overnight cannot be stored at room temperature for more than 4 hours. If you sleep with Ladybug throughout the night (longer than 4 hours), the breast milk collected in the morning will not be safe for your baby.
- What size Ladybug should I choose?
This has absolutely nothing to do with the size of your breasts - but it does relate to the amount of leakage you are experiencing.
We have three sizes for you to choose from: 40, 75 and 150ml. The LadyBug is designed to be an alternative to a breast pad, and fits securely in your bra. You can choose to wear it with little or no suction (by leaving the top stop open). So, instead of letting your precious milk go to waste in your breast pad, LadyBug can help you save milk to the last drop.
There is a measurement available for every mother who experiences milk leakage, whether during breastfeeding or throughout the day! The 150ml option is designed for mothers who experience a significant amount of leakage.
Note: If you are not leaking milk, you will not need the Ladybug.
